Vintage

Vintage look? why not...it's an old look, or have that nostalgic, lo-fi look of your image. Been reading several magazines, searching the internet for additional information about creating that vintage look and finally figured it out, it's fast and easy -- but not easy as what you think! You need to spend a lot of time in the computer using any photoshop editor software you have, learn the secret of layering techniques, filtering, enhancing images, take control of your picture, good cropping, and etc.

Light leak effect. Key Skills Covered

*Auto contrast
*Levels
*Gradient tool
*Layer masks

01. Set up the basic contrast. Open up your image, duplicate the background layer by Ctrl+J and then run Image into Auto contrast.

02. Add the reds. Add a levels, select red from the drop-down menu, push the white slider and adjust the top ramp to 200, move the black slider bottom to 200.

03. Add the yellows. Select blue from the drop-down menu and move the black slider top ramo inwards to 100, white slider on the bottom ramp to 150 to add yellow. Then, select RGB and move the black slider on the bottom ramp to 20.

04. Select the gradient tool. Press G to access this tool. Now select the Linear gradient tool, pick the foreground to background. Hit the enter and then press D to reset the colour palette from white and black.

05. Click, drag and release. With the levels layer mask active, you need to click, drag and release to apply the gradient to the mask so that the light leak colour is localised. Click and drag again, many times you want, as soon as you the appropriate result you want.

06. The finish effect. Now, adjust the opacity slider in the layers palette to 60% for a more subtle result.

07. Blue shadows.  Add a levels layer, select the blue from the drop-down menu and push the black slider bottom ramp up to a setting of 70 to add a nice blue tone to the shadows.

08. Yellow highlights. Next, move the white slider bottom ramp 230 to add a little yellow to the highlights. Just a bit sharpening to do ...click the image background copy, click the enhance palette top menu, drag down and hit the adjust sharpness, add the amount sharpness that you think looks appropriate.

Thank you for taking time to read my post.

Leaning is fun, especially when your  having fun, and love doing it. I love creating my photos, in so many ways.

The Secret Garden

A Secret Garden

stand alone in green grass

If there were a secret garden,
What would it comprise?
Fragrant flowers, a babbling brook, butterflies?
Dragonflies, birds, and bees, there would be all of these.

But most of all, within ‘that place’,
Tranquil peace and serenity await;
Ever there for me and you to relax and renew.
So every morning before you start,
Visit the ‘secret garden’ of your heart.

The View

Maria Lourdes Quisado Young, usually its 'Malou'. About me, not much to say....just being me, no other and  simple. I love everything around me, I am a happy person and have a crazy side too.
I recieved a Certiticate of Graduation in NYIP of March 2009. I did cover the fundamentals of digital photography and planning on enrolling the advanced photography class.

Taking pictures is what I love to do, it's an interest that might bring me into something productive and maybe in a financial aspect. I am taking it slowly, working through it according to my capability, creativity and understanding about Photography. It is not easy to put it together.

"A great picture composed of a great subject, how you place your subject in a frame (apply the Rule of Thirds), composition, and simplicity". Be creative and if you don't have the 'eye of a photographer' then you are not ready to become a good photographer.

Tools is also important of becoming a good photographer. There are so much to learn about photography, techniques, rules and etc. So much more to discover and the most exciting part is, learning has no ending.

Three important guidelines for great photographs:

Guidelines:
  • a good  photograph has a clear subject or theme - seeing things around  it doesn't  mean that you can' take good photograph, it is clear that you have to have a clear subject, e.g  a people, flower, animals, or your pet, and etc etc etc.
  • a good  photograph focuses attention on the subject - let the viewer immediately drawn to the subject, or do not let the viewers guess who is the subject.
  • a good photograph simplifies -  there are no distractions to your main subject.
I've learned a lot and still learning more about photography.
